Surge is a book that details the personal and professional experiences of Melbourne healthcare workers during the Covid-19 pandemic.

As the pandemic swept across Melbourne in 2020, Surge began as a photographic essay collaboration between photographers Kate Disher-Quill and Phoebe Powell (with support from Photo Australia and the Metro Tunnel Creative Program) as a tribute to Melbourne healthcare workers for their bravery and sacrifices on the frontline.

Recognising the historical importance of both the photos and stories, the book was commissioned by Metro Tunnel Creative Program.

Surge is a permanent, tangible record of some of the complexities and layers which were experienced during the pandemic.

Printed by Bambra Press, the book production includes several paper stock selections (including a translucent stock) and inserts.
